The Cancer New Moon - July 5, 2024

Tonight at 6:57pm, the Moon joins the Sun in the 15th degree of the Cardinal water sign Cancer, setting the tone for the next 4 weeks as we move through the New to 1st Quarter, then to Full and finally, Last Quarter phases. A New Moon brings together the inner realm of emotion and the outer world of self-expression. When the energies of these two archetypes, Sun and Moon, are aligned once each month, we look to the sign of the Zodiac they're in to see how that New Moon will express itself, and where new beginnings can take place.

The Gemini lunar cycle is ending it's Balsamic phase and along with it, it's focus on sociability, inquisitiveness and interactions on the mental plane. We're now entering a more emotional sea-change of feelings that revolve around families and domestic concerns. Cancer's planetary ruler is the Moon, so Luna is very much at home here, nurturing, feeding and offering sympathetic understanding.

As both the "Lights" are squaring off with the Moon's nodes in Libra and Aries, we are challenged to maintain a balance between what we desire to achieve and what others want for us. In order to create harmony in both our private lives and our public personas, we need to listen to our own feelings about the kind of career or job we feel comfortable doing.

It is important to be as aware of and sensitive to ourselves and or needs as we are to the needs of family and friends. Then, when we are firing up the grill and having them over for a meal, we get to enjoy their company without being desperate for their approval or support. Remember that everyone is feeling the undercurrents of emotional challenges and decide to keep things on as even a keel as is possible. And if you're not feeling like engaging in a particular event, you can always choose to stay home and nurture yourself.
