Summer Solstice & the Capricorn Full Moon June 21, 2024

Welcome to the first official full day of summer and a Full Moon in Capricorn! The Sun left Gemini last night, the sign of mental energy that kept us working overtime to plan and figure things out. Now it is rocking on the emotional waves of Cancer, affecting how we nurture ourselves and others over the next few weeks. We are at the start of summer, so make time to check in on loved ones, have a cookout with friends or relax at the beach with a good book!

The Moon is at the 2nd degree of the cold Earth sign Capricorn, opposite the Sun at the 2nd degree of the flowing Water sign of Cancer. This polarity takes turns as the seasons change and the Lights switch place at the Winter Solstice, but the energy is still about finding a balance between personal needs and those of others.

The focus this time of year centers on how to care for yourself while still taking care of business and personal responsibilities. With transactional Mercury and caring Venus both sitting alongside the Sun in watery Cancer, there's a good amount of energy to put into matters of home and family. But this is a Full Moon in Capricorn, so it's very important to pay attention to your responsibilities, especially at work or pertaining to business and/or career goals because that's what is being highlighted now.

The challenge is Neptune at the last degree of it's own sign, Pisces squaring both the Sun and Moon. The archetype of intuition, art and music, and dreams for the future also has a down-side related to illusions and pipe-dreams. Confusion can wash over you, especially as Neptune turns retrograde coming up on July 2nd, so identify the dreams with possibility and release the ones going nowhere.
