Gemini Full Moon Dec. 15, 2024

Welcome to the Full Moon at 24°Gemini today. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is Children skating over a frozen village pond. I couldn't get an image of that, so I'm posting a photo I took of the nearly Full Moon rising last night. The imagery of the Sabian Symbol and my photo both make me smile as they highlight fun and possibility! It's been a busy month with lots of projects and work and I'm now ready to slow things down and enjoy the rest of the holiday season. How about you?

The interesting thing about Mercury, the ruling planet of this Moon, is that it's slowed down in Retrograde motion in Sagittarius and about to turn Direct later in the afternoon. If the Full Moon is in Gemini, then the Sun is in the opposite sign Sagittarius. Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, so the planetary rulers of the Lights are in each other's homes, what we call Mutual Reception. Mercury wants all the details while Jupiter just wants to see the bigger picture.

There's a bit of a conundrum here because while Jupter is willing to get all the information necessary in his pursuit of the truth, Mercury can tend to get caught up in the moment and shift priorities depending on the conversation. Being flexible without bending the facts is very important here. Like children skating on possibly thin ice, it's important to wisely consider our choice of actions and words.

The Sun and Moon are both squaring off with Neptune in Pisces, adding even more uncertainty and fluidity to the current emotional landscape. Best to avoid escapist behaviors like over-indulging in food, drugs or alcohol and instead opt for artistic or spiritual endeavors, like listening to uplifting music, watching a nostalgic movie or creating something to share with others.
